All 750 villagers are in trouble: a particularly violent orc tribe has been descending from the cliffs to plunder, and Honeyglen is their next target. Honeyglen is a pleasant hamlet village that sits near the base of the Orc’s Crown mountainside.
Dnd pitfall trap how to#
I think it could be interesting if a PC strikes some sort of deal with a demon and suddenly gains a level in the warlock class.Īny thoughts on how to expand on this dungeon? Do you modify creatures in the MM similarly, or would you re-skin these monsters differently? dungeons and dragons DM D&D 5e orc I’m also considering giving the players the option to communicate with a demon trapped in a magic circle of protection. To compensate, I’m dropping two ‘rings of fire resistance’ that they can earn in the loot room. Players can take fire damage from the orcs, the hell hounds, and trapped statues. I can imagine taking on the Tanarukk in the cover of a Darkness spell, but if the hell hounds are also present, the PCs will be in grave danger. Since the Tanarukk boss also has Devil’s Sight, I decided to allow the orc minions to sometimes cast Darkness to give these monsters an advantage over the PCs. I gave the hell hounds Devil’s Sight, which lets them see perfectly in darkness. They can also warn the PCs about some of the monsters’ abilities or where traps are. The Goblins don’t really have any abilities that thrive in this dungeon, but can help the PCs find secret doors to get through the dungeon faster if they earn their trust. Some Tanarukk orcs can cast Hellish Rebuke, and others can cast Darkness, otherwise they’re unchanged from the MM. Since this orc tribe has completely disavowed Gruumsh and the rest of his pantheon to worship a fiend, I took a look at some 1st level spells that may work for them. The main hazards of this dungeon are fire damage and fiendish resistances, and so any modifications to monsters or decisions I make reflect this in some way.įirstly, I gave the orcs in the 5e MM some spell casting abilities.

I’d like to expand on my original post about my Tanarukk encounter I’ve got planned by explaining how the enemies in the dungeon work together to create the fiendish theme I’m going for.
